Every season has its own special offering for anyone who wants to discover Margaret River’s premium and boutique wineries.

Summer is the most popular time to visit Margaret River and there are plenty of reasons for that. With so many activities on offer and the whole region in full service mode, there is an abundance of choice when it comes to where to go and what to do. Summer is the perfect time to see grapes ripening on the vines, to discover why all the vineyards are netted and possibly even to witness the beginning of picking for the new year’s vintage.

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a local Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon or SBS as its often called while watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean.

In autumn, the winemaking hits a peak, with the whites being picked first followed by the reds as well as the botrytis and cane cut dessert wines. At this time of the year, the region’s winemakers are working around the clock. There is both an art to making wine as well as a science and our winemakers will use laboratory results, creative ambitions and a selection of techniques and equipment that all come together to create each wine and blend produced.

This is an action packed season for our cellar doors as they prepare to release new wines on to the market – an exciting and sometimes nerve wracking time.

By winter, the serious business of drinking red wine beside a fireplace begins and this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the quieter atmosphere and relaxed down south vibes. At this time of the year, the vines are bare and while it doesn’t look like much is happening in the vineyard, behind the scenes, grafts and cuttings are being prepared to create more vines for expansion and detailed management plans for the coming season are being prepared. A classic Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon tasting paired with some local produce at one of our fantastic restaurants will make a lasting impression on your palette and your heart.

In spring, new buds start to emerge, signifying the beginning of a new vintage. The region starts to come to life again, with more than just wine to enjoy as wildflowers burst into colour and whales migrate along the coast. The weather is still chilly at night with more and more sun hitting the deck so this is an ideal time to enjoy the best of both worlds. Indulge in some white wine and local seafood during the day and a glass or two of red with a juicy grass fed steak at night and discover why Margaret River is one of Australia’s premium wine destinations.

There’s no perfect time to enjoy the Margaret River Wine Region or to discover all that makes the area so popular. Whichever time of year you come, you will be welcomed by the locals who will offer you a perfect blend of relaxed and casual atmospheres married with outstanding wines and local produce.
